My name is Ian Powell. I am an industrial designer and fine artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I have a BFA in Fine Art Printmaking and recently graduated with a MFA in Industrial Design from the Academy of Art University.
Raised by an engineer and an artist, I developed a passion for creating beautiful, functional things early on.
Many people might think that the jump from fine artist to industrial designer is a big one, but to me it it makes perfect sense.
Design makes objects beautiful, aesthetically and functionally, much like how printing turns ordinary paper into rich works of art and tools to grow the mind.
